Five Years Ago Today: This is the fifth anniversary of Harry's passing. Prior to his death he wrote his epitaph in a reflection on his life titled, "Setting Your Sights" which I read at his memorial service. If you're interested in reading it you can find it it at the bottom of the Photo Gallery page.

To commemorate Harry's passing.....the first 6 people who order "Rule Your World!" today will receive the following $83.65 value: "Liberty A to Z" book, "The Economic Time Bomb" book, Liberty is America's Destiny Video, The Great Libertarian Offer Video, Video Press Kit/Detroit Economic Club Speech, Opera Rarities CD & Opera Instrumental Rarities CD ~ chosen & made by Harry.

As you probably know, Harry was a Co-founder of Downsize DC.  The organization wrote a tribute to him today and you can read it here: http://www.downsizedc.org/blog/why-we-miss-harry-browne

Many thanks to all those who have helped to keep Harry's memory and his work alive. It's appreciated more than words can express.

Harry Browne Bust Statue: In August, 2010, Brad Newman, a Clearwater, Florida production artist, contacted me. He said Harry had made a profound affect on his life and that he was using part of his free time to focus on bridging two real passions (figurative sculpting and ideologies grounded in freedom) by sculpting a clay head bust of Harry.

He went on to explain that with a minimal budget he’d converted the back bedroom of his small two-bedroom apartment into a sculpting factory. And that if I’d like to view photos of the bust I could visit his web site.

Over the next few months Brad reworked the bust and I visited his web site to view updated photos. Then around the first part of December he notified me that he was finally satisfied with his work and he intended to send me the first statue by Christmas. True to his word, the bust arrived three days before Christmas!

In my opinion, the statue is absolutely beautiful ~ a tremendous work of art. I wish I could put into words what it means to me to have Harry's likeness sculpted and to hold such a magnificent sculpture in my hands. I don't think the words exist that can convey my deep feelings. I can tell you that I love the statue. And I consider it an honor that Brad chose to use his talents to commemorate Harry in such a way.

I'm happy to announce that Brad is making statues available to other people who have enjoyed Harry’s life's work. And he’s donating 10% of his profit from Harry’s likeness to keep www.HarryBrowne.org up and running.

If you’d like to view Harry's statue, log on to:
www.MyHeroesThink.com and hover over the thumbnail photo of Harry and his bust and click on the large box. You’ll be taken to a page all about Harry Browne. Then if you’d like to purchase a bust simply click on the "Purchase" button for details.

Harry Browne Monument: The new Art Deco style white marble vases for Harry's grave were installed in Mt. Gur Cemetery today. They look very beautiful mounted on the black monument and match the design of the podium perfectly. So it was well worth waiting several months for them to be imported from Europe and exchanged for the ones that were ordered in error. (Updated photo of the monument to follow later.)

August 14, 2010

HBMLM: The Harry Browne Memorial Library & Museum, which opened two years ago today, closed its door to the public today. Unfortunately, the building in which the contents are stored, does not sufficiently and properly protect the library contents. So they're being removed and placed in a safer climate-controlled location. But I hope some day in the future, when a more suitable building is available, I can once again open the library to the public. Many thanks to all those who made donations to the library. Your donations helped to keep the library door open for two years.

Mt. Gur Cemetery: Harry Browne's gravestone (a black marble speaker's podium with a book atop it) has been installed in Mt. Gur Cemetery. Unfortunately, the wrong floral vases were shipped and installed. But West Memorials has ordered the correct white Art Deco style vases and they will be imported and installed in a couple of months.

March 1, 2010

Four Years Ago: Today is the fourth anniversary of Harry's passing. I had hoped the monument for his gravesite would have been installed in Mt. Gur Cemetery by today, but due to delays in production it was shipped to Kernersville only two weeks ago. And now, due to inclement weather, there is a hold up in the laying of the foundation and setting of the stone. So it may be a couple more weeks before it's installed.

I received the link below from Google Alert this morning. If you click on the link it will take you to Word Press web site's, "On This Day in History" page. Then scroll down to "Deaths" and you'll see Harry Browne's name listed next to 2006.

Since Harry's death, I've been dedicating all my time to publishing his work, managing his web site, and maintaining the HBMLM ~ Harry Browne Memorial Library & Museum. Consequently, I've had little time to respond to unique inquiries concerning licensing his work. I'm  exceedingly glad to announce today that I've engaged J.G. Wolfe, IV to act as Content Licensing Manager for Harry's work. He has an extensive background in advertising and marketing. So if you wish to discuss licensing for legitimate purposes any of Harry Browne's work, please feel free to contact Mr. Wolfe via email at: JGWolfe4@gmail.com.

Harry Browne Gravestone: About a year ago, I requested donations toward the production of a headstone for Harry's grave site. I received an extremely heartwarming response for which I'm eternally grateful. I'm pleased to report that West Memorials has finally produced the memorial and that it will ship from Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, November 13th. The monument should arrive in Kernersville, North Carolina sometime during the week of the 16th, so I'm hoping it will be installed in Mt. Gur Cemetery just prior to Thanksgiving. I plan to photograph the monument and post a picture of it on Harry's web site, probably on the Harry Browne Memorial Library and Museum page, so its generous donors can view it. But I'll  announce the installation and the posting first here in Harry's Journal.

HBMLM 1st Anniversary: One year ago today the Harry Browne Memorial Library Museum opened to the public.

July 13, 2009

Downsize DC:  I received today the list of donors who responded to my June 17th Downsizer-Dispatch message. Many thanks to those of you who made a donation to Downsize DC in Harry's memory on what would have been his 76th birthday. Downsize DC appreciates the donations, and I appreciate the personal messages that were relayed to me.

July 1, 2009

Harry Browne Memorial Library & Museum: Thanks to the generous donations during the past ten months by Bill Broadbent, Johnny Kramer, David W. Landram, Loren Dohm, Tom Morris, George R. Whitfield, Margelus Burga, Patricia Wolfe Peeler, Gil Magno, Nelson Boroughs, and Robert Boroughs ~ a window air-conditioner, a portable heater, a bookcase, and binders with acid-free sheaths were purchased for the Harry Browne Memorial Library & Museum.

Thanks to the recent donations in memory of Harry's 76th birthday by Patricia Wolfe Peeler and Autumn Lee Browne ~ Lowe's installed today a storm door on the library. The door is esthetically pleasing. But, more importantly, it resolves a long-standing heating and air-conditioning problem. Finally library visitors can relax in comfort while viewing the exhibits, reading, or watching a DVD.

June 17, 2009

Harry Browne's Birthday: Today would have been Harry's 76th birthday. Each year of our marriage, I spent a great deal of time and effort decorating our home and planning a birthday full of special surprises for him ~ something he missed as a child. To commemorate his birthday this year, I'm releasing a rendering of the grave site monument that West Memorials of Memphis, Tennessee is producing ~ thanks to the following donors:

Jody and Tom Morris, Shannon Wrege, George R. Whitfield, Harry Blazer, Pacific Holdings LLC, Steven A. Fyock, Eduardo Prizont, Robert E. King, Kristin Overn, Jim Adams, Loren Dohm, Craig Coogan, Rob Privette, David W. Landram, James C. Stevens, Michael Linden, Andreia Schreiber, Ian Mayes, David D. & Janice D. Segesta, Jeffrey Taylor, Laurence Glazener, Johnny Kramer, John F. Lewis, Robert A. Moore, Keith L. Kemp, Edward M. Teyssier, John M. Constantine, Sr. Family (John Sr. & Angeline; Michael, Paul, Elaine, & John, Jr.), Hank Smith, Ivan Walczak, Margelus Burga, and 3 anonymous donors.

If you'd like to receive an email containing Harry's monument rendering, please click here for an email form and then merely click "Send". No message is required.

Also, to commemorate Harry's birthday, a Downsize DC Downsizer-Dispatch is being sent to the foundation's over 25,000 members requesting donations and/or pledges in Harry's name. (Harry was proud to be a co-founder of the foundation, and was pleased to be involved in its projects until his death.) All contributions that arrive before midnight Friday, June 19th, are for this purpose, and they will share the news of your gift, by name and amount, with me. In addition, you'll find a comments box on the secure donation page. If you wish to leave a note for me, they'll pass that on to me as well. To donate to Downsize DC, please click here.

Three Years Ago: Harry passed on three years ago today, so I prepared the FreedomWire below to celebrate his life. Unfortunately, the new newsletter manager failed repeatedly to send it. So below is the message I prepared and had hoped to send.

HARRY BROWNE'S FREEDOMWIRE
March 1, 2009

Three years ago today Harry passed on. I miss him more now than I did three years ago. Judging from the emails I've received over the past year many of you miss him and his writing, too.

One year ago we celebrated his life by releasing a new eBook titled, "Investment Strategy in an Uncertain World" ~ a collection of 16 articles from HARRY BROWNE'S SPECIAL REPORTS newsletter. Since then we've celebrated his life by completing a number of projects ~ including several eBooks, a downloadable volume of his speeches, a downloadable version of his 20-CD album Rule Your World!, opening the Harry Browne Library Museum, and raising funds for the production and installation of a memorial for his grave site. In the event you aren't familiar with all these projects you might find today's newsletter interesting. (To keep up to date with future projects you can either log on to Harry's web site journal/blog at: www.harrybrowne.org/Journal.htm or read the upcoming FreedomWires.)

Thank you for your continued support and interest in Harry's life's work. I greatly appreciated it.

Best wishes,
Pamela Wolfe Browne

 PROJECTS SINCE MARCH 1, 2008

1. Rule Your World! (February 12, 2009): A new production of Harry's 20-CD album, Rule Your World! ~ Finding Freedom & Living Profitably is finally back in stock ~ although only 23 copies remain. To order your album either log on to: www.Paypal.com and send $159.99 to account: PLWBrowne@HarryBrowne.org, or send a check to: Harry Browne Store, 106 Oakland Avenue, Kernersville, NC 27284. All orders will ship via UPS, so please make sure your address includes a numbered street address.

2. A New Web Host Company (February 25, 2009): Harry's web site was transferred to All Star Computers and its server this past week. It was a massive and time consuming task (because of the size of the web site), and it was artfully performed by the company's owner and family friend, Ben Star. Many thanks to Ben for all his hard work and support. I'd also like to thank Michael Buss (Autumn Browne's husband) for all his help in spear-heading the transition and transfer. The site is running smoothly. (If you want to listen to Harry's radio shows you can listen immediately with Windows Media Player. However, if you want to download a show and listen to it at your leisure, please check back in about a week and they'll be available.)

3. Harry Browne's Grave Memorial (November 12, 2008): In October of 2008, I designed a memorial for Harry's grave. (A black granite podium with a book atop, a Statue of Liberty sandblasted on one side of the pedestal, a colored ceramic photo on the second side, Harry's epitaph sandblasted on the third side, and details of his life sandblasted on the fourth side ~ with 2 white granite vases on the base.) When I requested donations to cover the cost of production, shipping, and installation of the memorial by West Memorials of Memphis, Tennessee the response was very heartwarming ~ over $10,000 was raised over the next three months. I signed the contract for the production of the memorial this month and it should be produced and installed within the next six months.

4. 99% of All You Need to Know About MONEY and Its Effect Upon the Economy (October 14, 2008): According to Harry, not one person in a thousand really understands what money is. He believed that a proper grasp of it would give you the key that unlocks the many puzzles of national economic events. And without that understanding, it’s impossible to think for oneself; instead, you’re forced to rely upon the superficial conclusions of people with conflicting opinions and credentials. So I took the first nine chapters of his best-selling 1970 book, How You Can Profit from the Coming Devaluation, and released them as an eBook. The chapters were edited by Harry in 2005, and I added a brief epilogue with a source that can help you set up a Permanent Portfolio ~ so it doesn't matter whether next year brings prosperity, inflation, recession, or even a depression; you'll know you're safe - no matter what. This short eBook (85 pages) is the clearest and most extensive explanation of how the government money system works and perverts the free market. Equally important, it’s written in language that any reasonably intelligent layman can understand. To download for $9.75 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on 99% of All You Need to Know about Money.

 5. The War Racket, Part II (October 1, 2008): Harry said he was obsessed with war because he loved life. When he died, he was writing a book titled, The War Racket that concentrated on the deceptions politicians use to get us into war. Part I is titled, World War I and Part II is titled, The Perpetual War, focusing on WWII through The War on Terrorism. Chapter 20, the Epilogue, focuses on "Is War Necessary?" To download The War Racket for $9.75 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on The War Racket, Part I or Part II.

6.  Harry Browne Library Museum (August 14, 2008): The Harry Browne Library Museum opened to the public by appointment only on August 14th. Exhibits include Harry's manuscripts; photographs; awards; presidential campaign memorabilia; books; magazine articles; newsletters; personal documents and memorabilia; original music; reel-to-reel, video and audio tapes; CDs, and DVDs. Admission is free. Many thanks to all those who made donations. If you're interested in making a contribution send your donation, in any amount small or large, via Paypal to: PLWBrowne@HarryBrowne.org or to: Harry Browne Store, 106 Oakland Avenue, Kernersville, NC 27284. (Unfortunately, your gifts are not tax deductible.) To learn more about the Library Museum ~ including its mission statement, goals, and future plans log on to: www.HarryBrowne.org/LibraryMuseum.htm

7. The Secret of Selling ~ Anything (July 17, 2008): In 1966 and 1969 Harry wrote two manuscripts (The Secret of Success and Selling is Easy) based on his own successful experiences as a sales consultant and lecturer in the Los Angeles area. The manuscripts were never published, so I released a new eBook that combined the two manuscripts. Harry had paid particular attention to the top successes he had met along the way ~ observing them closely to determine the nature of their success. In so doing, he came to understand why people buy, and to understand the world around him. And he found that the principles he had observed applied to any type of success-seeking ~ whether or not in the sales field. Whether you're trying to sell automobiles, advertising, yourself, or Libertarian principles I believe you'll find this book interesting and beneficial. To download for $9.75 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on The Secret of Selling ~ Anything.

8. Freedom The American Way (June 17, 2008): To commemorate Harry's 75th birthday I released a new eBook titled, Freedom The American Way ~ Your Future is in Your Hands. The book is a compilation of magazine articles, newspaper columns, and educational articles that Harry wrote in the 1960s. They contain factual and well-reasoned economic, political, and business truths that appeal to the readers self-interest. The eBook is a quick and easy read. Yet the articles are filled with such wisdom, common sense, and practical suggestions that there is a great deal of "meat" to digest. If you want to reduce the size of government, make the most of your life, and learn ways to increase your value and wages ~ you'll find this book interesting, enjoyable, and thought-provoking. And although written 40 years ago, they're as important and worth reading today as the day Harry wrote them. To download for $9.75 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on Freedom The American Way.

9. Freedom Speeches, Volume I (May 28, 2008): Harry was an inspirational speaker who was passionate about the cause of freedom, individual liberty, and much smaller government. Whatever the issue, he presented insights you weren't likely to have heard from other speakers or writers. So I made available for download seven audio recordings of his more popular speeches in one volume. They present a unique view of human nature, morality, and government that will inspire and amuse you. More importantly, they'll encourage you to think about the importance of individual liberty, freedom, and much smaller government. To download for $19.99 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on Freedom Speeches, Volume I.

10. RULE YOUR WORLD! (April 24, 2008): I released a downloadable version of Harry's 20-CD audio course Finding Freedom & Living Profitably so you, a family member, a colleague, or a friend could download it to your computer or MP3 player (or convert it to regular CDs with most CD burning software) and listen to it at your convenience. There's something truly magical about hearing Harry's ideas presented in his own voice and speaking style, and sprinkled with his good humor. RULE YOUR WORLD! provides you with the tools you need to live your life the way you see fit. It can put you on the path to a freer, happier life. And it can inspire you to take greater responsibility for your life — to quit focusing on the shortcomings of others and use the sovereignty you have to take control of your own life and make the most of it. To download for $99.99 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on Rule Your World!

Thank You: The response to my request last November for donations toward the production, shipping, and installation of Harry's gravestone was very heartwarming. And it was extremely comforting to know that so many of you think enough of Harry and his life's work to contribute to his final resting place.

I'm very excited to report that due to all the generous donors enough funds were raised to order Harry's gravestone. So I contacted West Memorials in Memphis, TN and we're in the final stages of finalizing the order. (The original estimate for the memorial has increased from approximately $5000 to $9000 due to a change in the type of stone, the use of sandblast lettering instead of brass plaques, and the additions of a colored portrait and the engraving of a Statue of Liberty on the memorial.)

Words can't express my gratitude nor the extent to which my heart has been touched by your contributions. I am very thankful not only for your donations, but for your kindness and your desire to keep Harry's memory alive. Contributors names are listed on the Harry Browne Library Museum mission page, and all donors will be recognized on a framed photograph of the memorial which will be hung in the Harry Browne Library Museum.

November 12, 2008

Harry's Gravestone: It's been over 2 1/2 years since Harry Browne died and still there is no gravestone on his grave site. The monument I've designed (a stone podium with a book atop, a Statue of Liberty on the pedestal, and 2 bronze base markers ~ Harry's epitaph on one and the other detailing his life) costs nearly $5,000 for West Memorials of Memphis, Tennessee to produce and ship to North Carolina.

In order to place the memorial on Harry's grave by the 3rd anniversary of his death, I must raise the necessary funds within the next 2 months. Will you make a donation so I can reach my goal? (Donors names ~ unless you instruct otherwise ~ will be listed permanently on Harry's web site and in his Library Museum with a photo of the monument.)

Paypal donations should be made to the email address: PLWBrowne@HarryBrowne.org .

Checks & money orders should be made payable to: Pamela Wolfe Browne, 106 Oakland Avenue, Kernersville, NC 27284.

Thank you for your consideration.

The War Racket, Part II:  Part II is available for purchase. It's over 480 pages and includes a couple of completed chapters, extensive notes for the remaining chapters, a number of appendices, and 72 war articles that Harry wrote between the years 1999-2005. To download The War Racket, Part II for $9.75 go to: www.TrendsAction.com

FYI . . . There are only 8 Rule Your World - Finding Freedom and Living Profitably CD Albums remaining and I have no plans at this time to produce more. To purchase Rule Your World for $159.99 request an invoice here: Rule Your World!

Radio Archives:  A number of people have contacted me recently to tell me that the Harry's Radio Archive links aren't working. (The "listen immediately" links are working fine, but the "download at your leisure links" are the problem.)  According to Jack Dean of Webcommanders, the ability to download files was restored last Thursday. However, the streaming files are going to require some additional work, and he's hoping that will occur within the next week or so. It's my understanding that they upgraded their network and made a lot of changes during the past few weeks, and they're still tying up loose ends. The good news is that when the streaming files are restored everyone will see faster download times.

August 20, 2008

The War Racket:  Harry Browne was obsessed with war. He said he was obsessed with it because he loved life.

When he died in 2006, he was writing a book titled, The War Racket.  It concentrates on the deceptions politicians use to get us into war.

The War Racket consists of two parts:  Part I: World War I (Chapters 1-8 focus solely on WWI) Part II: The Perpetual War (Chapters 9-19 focus on WWII through The War on Terrorism. Chapter 20, Epilogue, focuses on "Is War Necessary?")

Harry completed Part I and Chapter 9 of Part II, and he typed over 175 pages of notes for Chapters 10-20 of Part II.  The War Racket, Part I and II are being published separately about a month apart.

To download The War Racket, Part I for $9.75 go to: www.TrendsAction.com

HBMLM: The Harry Browne Library Museum opened to the public by appointment only today.

July 31, 2008

Harry Browne Library Museum: The Harry Browne Library Museum opens to the public by appointment only on August 14, 2008. Exhibits include Harry's manuscripts; photographs; awards; presidential campaign memorabilia; books; magazine articles; newsletters; personal documents and memorabilia; original music; reel-to-reel, video and audio tapes; CDs, and DVDs. Admission is free.

Unfortunately, many of the library museum exhibits are currently unprotected and aging, and they need to be properly preserved.  The audio, video, and reel-to-reel tapes need to be transferred to CDs and DVDs. And a gravestone needs to be purchased for Harry's gravesite. If you're interested in making a donation to the Library Museum it would be greatly appreciated. Please send your gift, in any amount small or large, via Paypal to: PLWBrowne@HarryBrowne.org or to: Pamela Wolfe Browne, 106 Oakland Avenue, Kernersville, NC 27284. (Unfortunately, your gifts are not tax deductible.)

Another New eBook: Harry Browne was in his thirties, and a sales consultant and lecturer in the Los Angeles area, when he wrote The Secret of Success and Selling is Easy ~ two manuscripts that I've compiled into one eBook titled, The Secret of Selling ~ Anything.

Because he had never wanted to be an “average” salesman, Harry had paid particular attention to the top successes he had met along the way ~ observing them closely to determine the nature of success. In so doing, he came to understand why people buy and to understand the world around him. And he found that the principles he had observed applied to any type of success-seeking ~ whether or not in the sales field.

Harry was not the stereotypical hard-driving, constantly-on-the-go success seeker, however. In fact, he found a way to make an unusually good income as a salesman while working only fifteen to twenty hours per week.

Every word in this eBook was written by Harry in 1966 and 1969 from his own successful experience. And although the manuscripts remained unpublished until now they are an example of his ability to communicate to others the knowledge he had gained early on.

Whether you're trying to sell automobiles, advertising, yourself, or Libertarian principles I believe you'll find this book interesting and beneficial. To download for $9.75 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on The Secret of Selling ~ Anything.

June 17, 2008

New eBook: Harry would have been 75 years old today. To commemorate his birthday I'm releasing a new eBook titled, Freedom The American Way ~ Your future is in your hands. The book is a compilation of magazine articles, newspaper columns, and educational articles that Harry wrote in the 1960s. They contain factual and well-reasoned economic, political, and business truths that appeal to the readers self-interest.

Section 1: Eleven American Progress/Freedom magazine articles that endeavor to educate and gain public support for the Liberty Amendment ~ a Constitutional amendment to reduce the size of government by restraining federal powers.

Section 2: Twenty-nine The American Way newspaper columns that cover a wide range of topics from morality to unemployment to your savings account.

Section 3: Thirty-one Your Future Is In Your Hands articles ~ part of a dynamic educational employer/employee program in which Harry presented each week one basic economic truth that could be quickly read and understood by the reader. The articles promoted free enterprise; reduction of government interference in employer/employee relations; and created in employees both the desire to be of greater value, as well as periodically offering specific methods for providing it.

And although written 40 years ago they're as important and worth reading today as the day Harry wrote them. I hope you enjoy the book!

Freedom Speeches: Harry was an inspirational speaker who was passionate about the cause of freedom, individual liberty, and much smaller government. Whatever the issue, he presented insights you weren't likely to have heard from other speakers or writers. I've made available for download seven of Harry's more popular speeches totaling over 5 1/2 hours in an album titled, Freedom Speeches, Volume I.

"I Dreamed They Repealed the 20th Century"
"Liberty is America's Destiny"
"Two Many Lawyers or Too Many Laws"
"We Believe in You"
"Why We Must Repeal the Income Tax & Social Security"
"How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World"
"The Prospects for Liberty in America"

These speeches present a unique view of human nature, morality, and government. They will inspire you and amuse you. More importantly, they will encourage you to think about the importance of individual liberty, freedom, and much smaller government. To download for $19.99 go to: www.TrendsAction.com and click on Freedom Speeches, Volume I. I hope you enjoy Harry's speeches.

Two Years Ago:  Today is the second anniversary of Harry's passing. If the emails I've received during the past two years are any indication, I'm not alone in missing him. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful messages, your continued interest in his work, and your support. It means a great deal to me.

A New eBook: To commemorate Harry's life, I've assembled a new eBook titled, "Investment Strategy in an Uncertain World" ~ a collection of 16 articles from HARRY BROWNE'S SPECIAL REPORTS newsletter. Although the articles were written in the 1980s and 1990s, they contain timeless ideas ~ ideas that can help you today to detect sound investment advice from jargon posing as insight. And, of course, they're written in Harry's patented easy-to-follow style, sprinkled with his good humor. The new eBook will be available next Tuesday, March 4th at: www.TrendsAction.com.

Thank You Donors:  I appreciate so much the donors who contributed to Harry's CD Freedom Course project. Enough money was raised to transfer the 1967 reel-to-reel tapes to redigitalized CDs; and now the 8 lectures (taped at the Elk's Lodge in Long Beach, California; and the Stanley Full Building and the Knickerbocker Hotel in Hollywood, California) are on 20 CDs of approximately one hour each. I'm currently investigating the possibility of reducing production costs, packaging, writing ads, and promoting the project. Although I'd hoped that the freedom course would be available by Christmas, it's taking longer than anticipated to finalize the project. But rest assured, I'm working toward that end, and you'll be notified as soon as the course is available for sale.

LewRockwell.com Article:  It's been reported recently that when Ron Paul ran for president as a Libertarian that he refused federal matching funds. However, Ron Paul failed to raise enough money to qualify for federal matching funds, so he wasn't in a position to turn them down. In today's new article, "Why Harry Browne Refused Matching Funds and Why Ron Paul Should, Too" I cite Harry's reasons for refusing federal matching funds after he qualified for them in his 1996 and 2000 campaigns for the presidency ~ and I urge Ron Paul to do the same.

Harry Browne CD Freedom Course:  I have exciting news to share with you!

A few months ago I came across a box of reel-to-reel tapes in our garage ~ a lecture series Harry presented in the mid-60s entitled, "The Art of Profitable Living". After listening to a couple of tapes it occurred to me that Harry's lecture material was the precursor to How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World and that it would make a great CD course. So plans are being made to produce and market them.

I believe Harry's CD Freedom Course will make a difference in a lot of lives ~ especially the lives of folks who don't read or have little time to read. And I think folks who have read Harry's freedom book will enjoy the CDs because for the first time they'll hear him present his course material in his own voice. So be on the lookout for this product in the near future!

FMNN TV Archives:  A number of folks have contacted me recently to notify me that the TV Archive links to Harry's FMNN eTV show, "This Week in Liberty with Harry Browne", are no longer working. I contacted FMNN a couple of  weeks ago and heard back from them today. According to Craig Spitzer at FMNN: "As of now we have taken down our video server as FMNN is no longer offering any video content on the site. I have heard plans to get the server back up and running and offering some videos from FMNN, and I would assume at that time I should be able to load up the content you are linking to as well. I don't have any sort of ETA on this though. I will keep you posted as any new events occur re: getting the video server back up and running."  So please either continue to check the links periodically, or read Harry's journal updates for an announcement.

New eBook Available:  Harry's newest book, 2000+ Libertarian Quotes, is finally available as an eBook for only $9.75! You can order it now. click here.

The quotations in the collection of over two thousand pithy libertarian quotations and comments concerning liberty, government, and politics were personally selected by Harry to help you sell libertarian ideas to others. Surprisingly, none of the quotes are by Harry!

But there are quotes from conversations that he had with friends, emails from associates, letters from admirers, and listeners to his radio shows, as well as lesser known sources of particular interest to Harry such as: operettas, television shows, speeches, movies, etc. And, of course, there are quotes by famous philosophers, politicians, scholars, and other writers.

The quotations in the book are sorted by topics with their sources included, and are meant to challenge, inspire, and motivate you. Harry believed that if you're well-armed and benevolent in your approach, quotations could help you in your conversations with friends and family, in speeches, in letters to editors ~ anywhere to open minds to embrace liberty.

So why not order your eBook today. You might just discover that you've been quoted in it!

How I Found Freedom In An Unfree World:  Harry's freedom book was published in 1973 and focused on maximizing personal liberty by taking responsibility for your own life. It became an instant classic in libertarian circles. In 1997, a 25th anniversary edition was published and sold for $24.95. This book continues to be in demand and is considered a modern classic. If you've searched for a copy recently (such as on Amazon.com) you know that book dealers are offering copies for anywhere from $50 to $549.95.

How I Found Freedom In An Unfree World is available now as an online eBook. And it can be in your hands, or the hands of a friend, to read in a matter of minutes. You pay for it via credit card, and download it to your computer. Then you can read it on your computer screen - or print it out and read it in your easy chair. Each of the 330+ pages is formatted for easy reading, just like the books you buy in a bookstore. And because there aren't the normal printing and distribution costs, the price of the book is only $9.75 - a true bargain!

One year ago today: March 1st, 2006, my beloved husband, Harry Browne, passed on. It's said that time is a great healer. But I can say honestly that I miss Harry as much if not more today than I did a year ago. I miss his wise consultations. I miss his wit, warmth, love of life, compassion, gentleness, and diplomacy. I miss his optimism, playfulness, fairness, and dedication to the truth. I even miss watching him work long hours so we might live in a free country again. I miss him.

Many people have expressed to me over the past year that they miss Harry, too. And that they'd like to see photographs of him on his web site. So I put together a Photo Gallery to commemorate his life, and I'm publishing it today in his memory.

If you'd like to view photos of Harry from his childhood until his passing, please click on this link: http://www.HarryBrowne.org/PhotoGallery.htm

Thank you for your continued support and interest in Harry's work. It's very comforting to me to know that so many of you still think of Harry fondly, and that you want to continue to read his work.

January 24, 2007

Thank you:  A heartfelt "thank you" to those of you who made donations recently to keep HarryBrowne.org online. I was overwhelmed at the response to December's plea, and the generosity of the donors. And I'm very grateful for all the kind notes and letters that I received along with the contributions. I think Harry would be so pleased to know that his work is still available on the internet. So thank you again for your donations. I appreciate it more than words can express.

The Great Libertarian Offer:  As promised last month, Harry's book The Great Libertarian Offer is available now at LibertyFree.com for $9.75 along with Fail-Safe Investing and Why Government Doesn't work.

Future Online Books:  I hope within the next couple of months to complete a book of quotes and offer a fourth online previously unpublished book. So please bookmark LibertyFree.com and search for additional titles in the not-so-distant future.

December 15, 2006

Donations Needed Again:  The first six months after Harry passed on March 1, 2006, I was able to keep HarryBrowne.org online, so anyone interested in reading his articles and listening to his radio show would have access to them. Then, due to financial circumstances, I asked for donations for the last four months of this year. Fortunately, a number of you responded with contributions, so I was able to keep Harry's site up and running through the end of December, 2006.

Unfortunately, I need help again. So if you value Harry's articles, radio broadcasts, and/or any other information on his web site, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd consider making a contribution to the site's 2007 monthly hosting fees. The current fees amount to $100/month ~ which includes sending out FreedomWire messages to keep folks informed of the availability of new or previously published works.

To make a donation, please log on to PayPal at:
https://www.paypal.com/ and send your contribution to: PLWBrowne@VintageBaubles.com. Please be sure to indicate in the "Email Subject" line that your donation is for HarryBrowne.org, and include your name and email address so I can personally thank you.

If you don't have a PayPal account, and you don't wish to open one, you can send your donation in the form of a check or money order to: Pamela Wolfe Browne, 106 Oakland Avenue, Kernersville, NC  27284. Please be sure to include your return address so I can personally thank you. In either case, any amount would be greatly appreciated. And all donations will be used to keep this web site online and to promote Harry's life's work on LibertyFree.com and elsewhere.

The Great Libertarian Offer:  Before Harry passed, he hoped to offer for sale on LibertyFree.com his book, The Great Libertarian Offer. Since he was unable to do so, I'm making the book available very soon. Some say this book is one of Harry's best, and that it's probably more appropriate today than ever before. I hope if you haven't already read it (or you have friends or relatives that haven't read it) you'll log on to LibertyFree.com and purchase a copy. You can sit at your computer and read it online, or you can print it out and read it in the comfort of your easy chair. The cost is the same as Harry's other two books offered on LibertyFree.com (Fail-Safe Investing and Why Government Doesn't work) ~ only $9.75.

September 6, 2006

Thank you: I really appreciate all the donations to keep Harry's web site online. I now have the funds to cover the hosting fees through December, 2006 and the domain registration renewal fees for 2007! So a big thank you to all of you who made a contribution.

Reception Memorabilia: A number of people have asked me to describe the memorabilia that was displayed at Harry's memorial service reception. A month prior to the memorial service I went through hundreds of photos of Harry going all the way back to when he was 3 years old. I gathered together all the political photos and put them in a small photo album, and I placed all of the large professional photographs in a large scrapbook. Then I made three large framed photo collages. One collage depicted Harry's political life, a second displayed professional pictures of him by decades, and the third was a grouping of photos showing things Harry loved ~ such as playing the piano, eating, going to the symphony and opera, holding one of our cats, etc. A fourth college, made by Autumn, showed Harry's family life.

Large wrought iron book stands were used to display the collages on two conference-sized tables in the fellowship hall. Also on display were pieces of our antique Statue of Liberty china, a framed set of Statue of Liberty stamps that my mother had given Harry as a gift, a special handmade guest book for people to sign, a Statue of Liberty oil lamp, Harry's favorite framed photograph of the two of us taken on a cruise in the 1990s, a framed photograph of Harry with his arms around Autumn and me, two large Statute of Liberty's flanking a huge colorful floral arrangement made by my mother, and a large bronze urn in the shape of a book containing Harry's remains. There were also stacks of professional photographs of Harry with 80 of his ties which were given as parting gifts to those in attendance.

Photo Requests: I've had requests to share some photos of Harry. So be on the lookout in the near future for a photo gallery that I'll be creating on the web site.

Lifetime Achievement Award:  When posting the program bulletin for Harry's memorial service I neglected to mention something that might be of interest. During the reception afterward the service, Steve Dasbach and Bill Redpath presented posthumously to Harry the Libertarian National Committee 2006 Thomas Jefferson Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Libertarian Party; and I accepted the beautiful crystal pyramid-shaped award on his behalf.

Thank you: I sincerely appreciate the rapid response to my request for donations to keep Harry's web site online. It's very gratifying to know that Harry's work means so much to people. Thus far I've received enough funds to cover the hosting fees for July and August, and almost half of September. Thank you so much for your donations and your kind words about Harry and his writing. They are greatly appreciated.

Requests: I've had numerous requests the past few days to print the text of Harry's memorial service message. Below is the message Harry's daughter, Autumn, read to the congregation on August 12th:

"Setting Your Sights

As I look back over my life, I can see so many ways in which I could have done things better than I did, and I certainly wish I'd learned a lot of things sooner than I did.

And yet I have enjoyed a wonderful life. I'm married to the ideal woman. I have had the good fortune to be associated in business with highly competent, honest, compatible people. I've had a book that was #1 on the best-seller list, and others that sold well above average. I've had first-class friends in many different areas of my life. I've been able to live in three countries and enjoy the best the world has to offer. I was honored to be the Presidential candidate of the Libertarian Party.

To have made so many mistakes, and yet to have had so much. It proves that you don't have to be perfect to succeed.

When I die (if ever), I'd like the epitaph on my tombstone to read:

I didn't do everything I wanted to do,
I didn't become everything I wanted to be,
But because I aimed for the stars,
I reached the top of the world.

I don't advise being careless or sloppy. I do advise that you hold fast to your beliefs and act in the best way you know how--but then forgive yourself whenever you fail to measure up to your standards.

You will never be perfect. But you can be free and happy.

I hope you make it."

~ Harry Browne

Donations Needed: Since Harry passed on March 1st, I've been able to keep his web site online so his work would be accessible to those interested in reading his articles, and so I could keep everyone up-to-date on his memorial service and future projects. However, due to financial reasons I'm going to have to close the site unless I can raise funds to pay the site's monthly hosting and yearly domain registration fees. If you'd like to help keep HarryBrowne.org online, please log on to Paypal at: https://www.paypal.com/ and send your contribution to: PLWBrowne@VintageBaubles.com. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. And please be sure to indicate in the "Email Subject" line that your donation is for HarryBrowne.org, and include your name and email address so I can personally thank you.

August 20, 2006

Thank You: I returned home from North Carolina today and want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended Harry's memorial service and reception on August 12th in Kernersville, NC. It was a difficult day for me, but I appreciate your attendance more than words can express. And I'm glad we had an opportunity to celebrate Harry's life. I also want to thank those of you who sent email regrets. They were read during the reception and very much appreciated. The one-hour service and two-hour reception with spontaneous eulogies, buffet, and memorabilia were taped by Cloud 9 Videography; and the DVD's are on their way to me now.  Those who attended the reception were able to view photo albums, scrapbooks, photo collages, and other Harry Browne memorabilia that I put together especially for the reception. But for those unable to attend.....below is the program bulletin for Harry's service starting with the front cover, moving to the inside, and ending with the back cover.

Harry's Estate Auctions: Due to a couple of unexpected problems beyond the control of the professional trading assistants who are handling auctioning of Harry's personal library, it's taking longer than expected to list the collections of record albums, audio cassettes, economic and music books, sheet music, etc. However, some of his Freedom books are being offered, and the collections will be listed soon. So please keep checking the following link:  http://stores.ebay.com/sassysisterseauctions

April 25, 2006

Harry's Estate: When Harry and I lived in California in the late 1980s to early 1990s his library contained thousands of books, record albums, audio cassettes, sheet music, etc. In 1995 an auction house sold most of his library so we'd have the funds to move to Tennessee to be centrally located for the 1996 presidential campaign. Last summer, when it became obvious that Harry was permanently wheelchair bound, we downsized to a small one-level house and a large segment of the remainder of his library was given to charity. However, Harry saved about 300 books; 200 pieces of sheet music; 300 record albums; 150 audio cassettes; and several hundred CDs that were precious to him. During the next couple of weeks his collections will be sold on eBay via a professional trading assistant. Anyone in the U.S. who's interested in bidding on his collections should log on to: http://www.ebay.com/ and search for "Harry Browne", or log on to the trading assistant's auction page at: http://stores.ebay.com/sassysisterseauctions

Thank you: I want to take this opportunity to thank those of you who sent condolences to me in the form of cards, letters, emails, and blog entries. I've read most of them more than once during the past few weeks since Harry passed on; and I've been deeply touched by not only the outpouring of love for Harry, but the memories of him that you shared with me. Your correspondence means more to me than words can express. I also want to thank everyone who made a donation in Harry's memory to Downsize DC. Your contribution will help the foundation that Harry co-founded with Perry Willis to restore our American heritage of individual liberty, personal responsibility, and freedom from government ~ a heritage that meant so much to Harry.

Harry's memorial service: The Board of Elders of the Kernersville Moravian Church approved the use of their Historic Chapel and Fellowship Hall for Harry's memorial service. The service will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 2:00 PM in Kernersville, North Carolina; and both the service and reception afterwards will be open to the public. The Reverend Amis Daniel (a very close family friend who married us in 1985 in Kernersville) will be conducting the service with Michael Buss. (Michael was a minister in England for twenty years and is the husband of Harry's daughter, Autumn.) A couple of years ago Harry made a CD that he titled, "Music for the Funeral of Harry Browne". It contains two pieces that we'll hear at his service: Paul Abraham's: Victoria and her Hussar ~ "Mausi" (Herta Staal, Harry Friedauer) and Jean Sibelius': Symphony #2 ~ Finale (Colin Davis, Boston Symphony Orchestra)  There will be an opportunity during the service and afterwards in the Fellowship Hall for individuals to share their memories of Harry.

The final "Libertarian Conversation": The final broadcast of Harry's "Libertarian Conversation" on the Genesis Network aired March 11th. Jim Babka, President of Downsize DC, voluntarily hosted the show without remuneration like he'd done so many, many times during Harry's illness. Autumn, Harry's daughter, was visiting me from California at the time, so we listened together to the very touching and beautiful last memorial show. Towards the end of the broadcast Jim read the letter below that I wrote to Harry's listeners. But first, I want to thank all of Harry's friends who participated in the memorial shows. It was very moving to hear your memories and thoughts about Harry, and I appreciate the fact that you took time out of your busy schedules to pay tribute to him. I also want to thank Michael Cloud, who like Jim Babka, voluntarily hosted a couple of Harry's shows when Jim was traveling on business.

Dear Friends of Liberty:

My soul is profoundly sad since Harry passed on March 1st. But my heart is filled with gratitude for the outpouring of condolences expressed in the numerous emails, blogs, articles, cards, and letters that I've read during the past week. It's heartwarming and comforting to know that Harry influenced or enhanced so many lives through his writing, speeches, eTV shows, and radio broadcasts. Thank you for sharing your candid stories and personal comments with me and my family. These remembrances mean more than words can express, and we've been deeply touched by them.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Glide-Write, more specifically Margelus Burga, for supporting Harry and sponsoring his radio shows for so many years. Mr. Burga's generous support made it possible for Harry to broadcast his "Libertarian Conversation" each week, and thereby spread the Libertarian message across the country and throughout the world. This radio show meant a great deal to Harry. It was his "baby", and he remarked to me more times than I can count how much he loved hosting this show. He loved spreading his message, talking to those who called in, answering emails, and occasionally interviewing an interesting guest. Mr. Burga was the silent "angel" who made all this possible. And on behalf of Harry I'd like to personally thank him for the great contribution he made to the cause of liberty and freedom in America.

Although Harry is no longer with us, we still have the benefit of his books, articles, and archived radio and eTV shows. And, fortunately, there are additional unpublished articles and a book, "The War Racket", which he was working on when he passed. So you will undoubtedly receive word in the future announcing the availability of more of his writings.

Many people have asked me during the past week what they could do in memory of Harry -- to celebrate his life. I'd like to request that in lieu of sending cards or flowers that you consider making a donation to Downsize DC -- the foundation that Harry co-founded with Perry Willis at DownsizeDC.org. Or you can make a contribution in Harry's memory to the Korner's Folly Foundation, which supports the theater and arts, at KornersFolly.com.

Thank you again for all your comforting expressions of sympathy. And thank you for listening to Harry's "Libertarian Conversation" each week. These get togethers every Saturday night brought him a great deal of joy and satisfaction.

Best Wishes,
Pamela Lanier Wolfe Browne

Harry's Obituary: The following obituary appeared in the Nashville Tennessean on Friday, March 3, 2006:
